Mechanical Bride :: folk / alternative
Remember that kind of over-played yet kind of catchy song by Rihanna called “Umbrella” (or Chris Brown’s “Cinderella”)? Well, Mechanical Bride, a folk band from Brighton, United Kingdom does an AWESOME cover of the song. Although the original has “hip-hop-ic” beats, this cover of “Umbrella” has the dark melody of the piano. It sounds so monochromatic. It starts out so suspenseful, then Lauren Doss comes in with such a haunting, yet beautiful voice then you hear bells along with the violin covering the bass. Ahh… I love this folk ballad. Gives it a whole other new meaning, doesn’t it? Mechanical Bride is best known for touring with Bat For Lashes (who also sound awesome) in early 2007.
